After a delirious analysis of my affinity with this movie, It became clear to me that it’s not the romance, humor, cuss words or the aggressive attitude of the protagonist that made me revisit this movie again and again. But it’s those moments where Arjun with his heavy beard and weary, glossy eyes lives his everyday life, disconnected from everything in this world except his lost love. The way this mood is portrayed in the movie is very akin to Writer’s block.A newbie writer/lover lives in an illusion that all the bliss of love/ writing will never stop showering on him until he reaches a comma or a full-stop. Sometimes you couldn’t tell a comma from a full-stop, it’s just a break anyway. In the movie, you could see him referring or reliving his past love, or trying a few things just to get over his heartbreak, and the only other thing he does is NOTHING. Just lying around doing nothing.

Which is all similar to a Writer’s block where a writer longs for his long past days when his fingers danced on the keyboard at his wish and he fears that he could never be that good again? Or its just waiting for some magic to happen in life again and till then, do NOTHING. We don’t know whether the writer(also director) has experienced any heartbreak on the scale we have seen in the movie, but he could’ve inevitably been in writer’s block on which he could have modeled the mood of the movie.I could never prove whether this resemblance is deliberate from the maker or my own perception, but I just strongly feel that “A Writer who isn’t writing often is very much like a lover who isn’t being loved”.
